The night. Splendid tempera from around 1780. Size 30.5 x 26.5 cm. Allegory of the night carrying two children in her arms, on the right the owl, a nocturnal bird of prey symbol of the night itself. The tempera has signs of aging in the upper left corner and in the lower right corner, otherwise in good condition. Made on laid paper without watermark. Anonymous artist
