Barque allant vent arriere. Beautiful copper engraving from 1704 with original colors. Measurement of the engraved part 43 x 54.7 cm. Description of a leeward sailing ship. Lightly burnished specimen, in good general condition, printed on laid paper without watermark. Published by Pierre Mortier. Died in 1724. Active in Amsterdam. From 1690 he was the publisher of the works of many cartographers and in particular of Jaillot from which he bought the papers of the "Neptune", of De Fer of which he reprinted the "Theater de la guerre" and of the Blaeu. Through de Witt he came into possession of many plates of Dutch cartographers.
