Battle of Ponte Milvio. Beautiful and wide etching in 4 tables engraved in 1683. Reproduction of Raphael's fresco in the Sala di Costantino in the Vatican: the battle between Constantine and Maxentius in Ponte Milvio. Legend has it that Constantine, encamped in the plain of Saxa-Rubra, saw in his dream an angel with a cross with the words "In Hoc Signo Vinces" (you will win under this symbol), indicates the complete conversion to the Christianity of the Emperor and of the People Roman. Measure of engraved part 69 x 172 cm. Exemplary in good condition, printed on laid paper with watermark double circle and lily. Engraved by Pietro Aquila after Raphael and published by G.
