Antiquae Urbis Romae. 1572 copper engraving with coeval coloring. Map in two sheets of the city of ancient Rome, based on previous Pirro Ligorio map. Exemplary browned, without text on verso, printed on laid paper without watermark. Engraved and published by Georg Braun. 1541-1622. Geographer publisher is best known for the great work: "Civitates orbis terrarum" which he published in collaboration with the cartographer Franz Hogenberg (1535-1590) in Cologne. The six-volume work contains hundreds of views of cities, the first volume was published in 1572, the last in 1618.
