A Satyr Seated Beside a Statue of Priapus. Beautiful etching of 1645. Measuring 11.4 x 20.2 cm engraved part. Signed in the plate G.B. Castilione IN. FE. The print is in good condition, trimmed to the edge of illustration, printed on laid paper with watermark. Engraved by Giovanni Benedetto Castiglione called "Grechetto" (Genoa, 23 March 1609 - Mantua, May 5, 1664) was an Italian painter and engraver. In 1632 he moved to Rome after working in numerous workshops in Genoa. In 1634 he was admitted to the Academy of St. Luke and begins to work with Bernini, Pietro da Cortona and others. It was an esteemed engraver, specialized in the etching technique; probably his prints also influenced the works of Rembrandt.
