Erection of the obelisk in St. Peter's Square by Domenico Fontana. Three beautiful tables engraved on copper by Giovanni Guerra in 1586 and reprinted in 1704 by Pierre Mortier. The tables cover all three of the erection of the obelisk on St. Peter's Square at the Vatican by Domenico Fontana.

Description Table 1: The first table is one of the two large, in which we see the machines for the erection with
the steps to get it. You see on the left the obelisk on trucks for transport to the Basilica (without dome) in the background,
then the obelisk oblique, with the machinery and the beasts that they pull up, and then you see it in the upright position. Measurement of the plate 50 x 111.5 cm. Table in good condition, only one sign of restoration on the part of the union of the last plate right

Description Table 2: The second table is a perspective view from above of the positions of the machinery. Measurement of 50.5 x 37.5 cm part engraved. The table is in good condition, soft glow on the center fold.

Description Table 3: The third table is the other big and describes the actual erection, with hundreds of men and beasts
working to build the Obelisk, the Swiss Guards, the master builders and of course the new Basilica (without dome) in the background. Measurement of the plate 50 x 111.5 cm. The table is in good condition, soft glow on the center fold.

All tables are printed on laid paper without watermark. Engraved by Giovanni Guerra and printed in 1704 by Pierre Mortier.
