Prospectus of Santa Maria Maggiore. Beautiful and rare copperplate engraving of 1704. Measurement of the plate 33 cm x 36. It is the bird's eye view of the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore in Rome. Table from the opera "Beschryving van Nieuw Rome" printed in Amsterdam in 1704 and published by Francois Halma. The print is in good condition, the usual central fold, printed on laid paper with watermark. Engraved by F. Deseine, engraver active in the Netherlands in the late seventeenth and early eighteenth century.
