The Rape of Europa. Superb and rare copperplate of 1770 approximately. Measurement of the plate 46.5 cm x 56. It depicts the myth of the rape of Europa. It was Zeus, disguised as a bull to abduct her, she had three children. The press has been restored very well in several places, printed on laid paper without watermark. From a subject by Luca Giordano. Engraved by Jacques Firmin Beauvarlet (1731-1797) famous engraver, born in Abbeville in 1731. He moved to Paris as a young man, and was a pupil of Charles Dupuis and Laurent Cars. His first style was bold and free, although it must be confessed that the last tables were performed with great sharpness and delicacy.
