Gofredo Bulioni Re di Hierusaleme. Beautiful copperplate engraving of 1625. Measuring 25.8 x 19.6 cm part engraved. And 'the portrait of Godfrey of Bouillon, governor of Jerusalem during the First Crusade or Crusade of the Barons. In this print the artist (probably Antonio Tempesta) calls him King, but really Godfrey refused to be proclaimed king in the city of Jesus Christ and instead assumed the title of "Defender of the Holy Sepulchre." The fact caption reads: "Dear King Duce and of which it echoes the cards in the name Tasso august, because Saraceno took again the unjust de l'humanato God the holy tomb." Original in good condition, on laid paper with watermark "anchor". Engraved maybe by Antonio Tempesta called Tempestino (Florence, 1555 - Rome, August 5, 1630) was an Italian painter and engraver of the early Baroque. He trained in the culture of late Mannerism, with a natural taste but also calligraphic, acquired by frequenting Stradano John, with whom he collaborated on the decoration of the Palazzo Vecchio. He moved to Rome in 1573, he worked for Pope Gregory XIII frescoing some maps of the Hall of Maps in the Vatican, including the famous map of Rome (1593).
