View of the Atrium of the Portico d'Ottavia. Beautiful etching, engraving and drypoint 1760. Measurement of the plate 40 cm x 60. It represents the outside of the Portico d'Ottavia near the Jewish Ghetto in Rome. In fair condition, several restorations throughout the imprint, on laid paper without watermark. Exemplary in the second state of seven (Hind 58), Roman edition. Engraved and published by Giovanni-Battista Piranesi. Draftsman, printmaker and architect, born in Morano di Mestre October 4, 1720, died in Rome on November 9th 1778. Someone has dubbed the "Rembrandt of architecture." This artist has not only reproduced the ancient ruins of the power of Rome, but it was also one of the most authoritative archeologists of his time.
