Monumento funebre a Francesco Algarotti. Etching of 1769 very interesting. Measurement of the plate 64 x 45.5 cm. Depicts the Funeral Monument of Francis Allegrotti engraved by Volpato from a drawing by Charles Bianconi (architect who designed the monument). The incision is published in many books of prints, including Comolli, who devotes four pages (244-245-246-247) in his "Historical-Critical Bibliography of civil arts and subordinate" of 1788. Francis Algarotti was a great collector of art of the Enlightenment period, interssato to science and especially astronomy and you notice this aspect nell'epitaffio engraved on his tomb: "newtoni discípulo" or "student of Newton." The Fridericus Magnus of that Epitaph is reported to Frederick the Great of Prussia (Frederick II) The funeral monument is still present in the Cemetery of Pisa. In excellent condition, on laid paper without watermark.
