San Luigi Gonzaga. Beautiful copperplate engraving of 1607. Measurement of the plate 13.5 cm x 8. It depicts San Luigi Gonzaga beatified just two years before. The Holy holding a crucifix surrounded by lilies, two angels at the top corners that pay homage to the Christogram IHS (in hoc signo). In excellent condition, on laid paper without watermark. Engraved by Hieronymus Wierix (1553-1619) was a Flemish engraver and family member of Antwerp Wierix who copied engravings by well-known artists, including Albrecht Dürer.
