L'Italie. Etching of 1700. Measures to bar 50 x 63.5 cm of copper. Engraved and published by Guillaume Delisle. He was the son of Claude Delisle (1644-1720), tutor of geography and history, who moved to Paris for business reasons and later occupied the post of censor real. He was also known as a skilled cartographer. Guillaume Delisle devoted himself from the beginning to geographical studies: in 1700 made public its maps, the "World Map" and "Map of the Continents".
